A Chain of Bunnies

instructions

template

This is what Johnsie and I made today.

I folded my paper lengthwise and didn't cut in half. That way after I was done cutting I had 2 chains of 4 bunnies.

Cute guys
We added smiley faces. But NO clothes, because
"Bunnies don't wear clothes you silly."
We flipped a few of them over and glued on bunny tails. I cut cotton balls into 4 pieces.Happy Tails to You.

When I hung them up I taped some looking out and some with their tails facing out. Too bad all of our walls are white. They would look really cute on a colored wall.

This is Johnsie opening the bunnies for the first time. I told him it was magic.

1st Floor Walls

And up they go.
This is the SE corner.
We can't wait to finish off the basement later this summer. That is where my craft room/closet (it is pretty small, but I AM NOT complaining) is going to be.
Doesn't make me too happy about Manny walking up that board to get to where he is. UGH.
This is the NW corner.
We have nice big windows.

One of the framers brought their dog. Sweet puppy.
They think the shingles will be going up in about a week but, it has been raining the past few days so who knows.

Buttermilk Falls, Ithaca

Buttermilk Falls is one of Ithaca's beautiful waterfalls.

The falls are amazing. They just keep going. We found a cool 'Fish Rock' Too bad it broke in my pocket.

The hike was mostly uphill. Johnsie found a vine and he held onto one end while Daddy held the other and pulled Johnsie up the hill. Hiking is tiring for little legs.

Caught!

I remember Chickie had a Pooh book when she was little and in it Pooh and his friends play Pooh Sticks. You each throw a stick over one side of a bridge and run to the other side to see who's stick comes out first. This was Johnsie playing it.

Coloring Eggs

I really prefer to color eggs that are blown. I love keeping them from year to year. BUT, I really dislike blowing them. Not because I am grossed out. It is just hard to do. I am picky about the size of the hole and if you have ever blown eggs before you know the smaller the hole the more sore your cheeks get.

Anyway, last weekend I blew 10 eggs and this weekend I had about 16 more that needed blowing. SO, I recruited Manny. He did awesome. After getting over being grossed out that he might get raw egg in his mouth, he jumped right in. I will let you in on something though, the stinker was making big holes. Oh well. I was happy to have help.

Here comes the goo.

These are unwashed. I get a little fanatical about raw eggs. I rinse the eggs out really well and then I soak them in HOT bleach water, making sure some gets inside the egg. Then I let them air dry.

Then we eat. Two weekends in a row we have had scrambled eggs one day and french toast the other. Yum!

Then we color. Johnsie made a ton of green ones.

Manny got more creative. He used multiple colors and crayon resist designs.

Dad was having fun too.

Notice the boys are on the skins team. I didn't want stained shirts. Or pants either in Johnsie's case.

We dried the eggs on toothpicks poked into the egg carton.

We even tried some sticker resist ones. We did learn that it works much better when the egg only sits in the dye for a short time. Otherwise, your stickers loosen.

Some of our eggs. You can see some of the sticker resist ones.

Here are some tissue paper ones.

And foiled ones. The dye package we bought was called, Bright and Shiny eggs. It came with special glue and colored foils. Cool!

And I made these rubber band ones. I have no clue how the orange got on the green one. I first died it yellow and then added the rubber bands and then dipped it in blue. Orange? It's really cool though.

Just a note: Always break the yoke before you start blowing. It makes it way easier.

All printables can be found on my March 22nd post.

This was a flip book we made this week. You cut all of the pages apart except the front and back covers. Then you attach them together with rings.

I didn't have the correct rings so I used 2 key rings and a chain. I would advise getting the rings that come apart. These were hard to get on the paper. But it worked well enough.

What We're Reading

Click the button above to see what others are reading!

This was one of our favs this week. I love Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli and this book is by his wife Eileen so I was hoping we would like it. In this story Tilly is a silly goose that the other farm animals are annoyed with. They want him to stop being silly. But then they realize how much they miss the old Tilly.

Chester the cat and Buddy the dog always fight, so Chester decides to leave. Buddy realizes how much he misses Chester and goes out in search of him. I likes the illustrations in this one!
Little Oink doesn't like being messy but his parents make him be piggy. He loves to spend time in his playhouse that he keeps just so.

Pinch the pack rat learns that a clean, neat house feels great.

What kind of sounds do Dinos make while they are sleeping?
