Open Ended Art

Tissue Paper Mosaics

Open Ended Art -We were able to choose from having our kiddos make a mosaic out of egg shells or tissue paper. Not to take the easier road, but we did tissue paper.

Go to Growing and Learning by Leaps and Bounds to see what others did for the open ended art mosaic theme.

D Quotes

The other day N had a football at the Fargo Dome. This is an annual event and a big treat for the 5th and 6th graders. Anyway, Gram and Gramps came up to watch the game with us and to help watch D since he doesn't sit still for more than 10 minutes.

So, after the game D wanted to ride back home with G and G in their car. Fine with me and since they always have a car seat in their car there were no issues. I guess D was content the whole way home and sat engrossed watching a movie on the portable DVD. When they finally pulled into our town (45 mins from Fargo) he looked up and said, "Hey, we are back in my world." So cute that he called it "his world" especially since he knows the name of our town. Funny.

Just so you know, where we live you can always tell when you are entering a different town because there is usually miles and miles of farmland between towns.

Tot School

Tot School

D LOVES doing mazes. We put them in page protectors and use a washable marker to help reduce waste.

Finger painting is a favorite in our house.

Brown again. D loves making it.

While driving, D often lets me know what I should do when we come to a stop light.

Tangrams

D created his own design and it came out looking like a fish. He was pretty proud.

My baby girl and her beau Ryan going to their senior homecoming.

The girls have stood here for a pic all four years of high school. I will have to find them.

Cute girls.

This Sucks

I have never been away from Ryan for more than a week in the past 18 years and now, today, he left and I have no idea when I will see him again. He left to go start working in NY and to look for a house for us while the kids and I stay here and try to sell this house.

Wow, words really can't explain how I feel at this minute. I love him so much.
It was hard watching him say bye to the kids. D really had no clue, which Ryan said actually made it easier. I of course am still a blubbering fool.

We all have web cams and we will be able to see each other every night, but Ryan is still scared that his relationship with D will change since he is so young and right now they are so close. I think everything will be fine especially since they will be able to talk and see each other every night.

I truly hope our house sells fast and that we can be together again. Of course, it will be bitter sweet because when we are ready to all leave, we won't all be leaving. Our oldest, A, will stay here and live with her grandparents since she is a senior and is already taking some college classes. Hopefully, after graduation she will come and live with us in NY.

Tot School

Tot School

We had a busy week. However, any time we work on pre-handwriting things, like tracing lines D says he can't do it and gets really whinny. Any ideas what to do? He definitely prefers the hands on manipulatives best. But some times even when he is sticking stickers he asks me to finish for him. Should we stop the activity or should I make him finish it?

Sticker Fun!

We found this activity at Our Homeschool Fun . D had a lot of fun mixing the toilet paper and glue. We used one side of an old file folder because it seemed very sturdy.

Our paints seem to always turn brown. Go figure.

D said that this was a rainbow during a storm. Very creative guy.

I found this at a local thrift store. There are so many things I figured I could do with it.

I taped color squares to the front.
D used tweezers and matched the pom poms to the correct little box.
I had him open and close each little compartment himself. He did get a little bored by the end. There are 28 little boxes.

I also found these at the thrift store. We love dominoes.

D loves jumping on the tramp when the sprinkler is going underneath it. Afterward he got the chalk and had fun making neat drawings in the water.

Great Stuff

I love this site. Evelisa has the best printables. She is offering the membership for $20.00 lifetime membership and has added nine new games in the membership area. The $20.00 membership will end on September 24, 2009. http://www.learninglinkprintables.com/

Wordless Wednesday

This picture was taken 2 yrs ago of D and his Gramps. D was so intrigued with his reflection in Gramps' sunglasses.

It's Official

The house is officially on the market as of today. Even though we still may have many months here because who knows how fast the house will sell, that sign in the front yard makes it seem final.

Now I guess the real hard part starts. Keeping the house clean. D, my little tornado, seems to make a mess in every room.

Everyone Loves A Parade

Yesterday, it was our town's annual Headwaters Day. I am sad to think that this will be the last time we attend this parade. Small town parades are so awesome. You seriously know someone on almost every float. And of course there are the fire trucks, the horses and the candy.

Racing for Candy

Look Dad

When we were attending college in Grand Forks, ND, they city had an ordinance about not throwing candy from the floats. This seemed so odd to us and I am not sure if that is common in other cities.

Ryan and D

Anyway, A was at work and wasn't able to attend with us and N was down the block hanging with his buds. He did stop by to drop off his loot before he rode off to participate in the days events.
Got anymore candy in there?
My N sweaty from running around.

Checking out the haul.

Tot School

Tot School

I have been planning on starting Tot School this fall for awhile now but, since hubby was laid off and now we are moving half way across the country Tot School has been delayed.
However, I am trying to incorporate some little activities during the week because we really have no idea when the boys and I will be moving and meeting Ryan in NY. It may take months and I don't want to wait that long to start.
So this is what D and I worked on.
We got this from Subway. Cool!
Cheap bolts, washers, nuts and wing nuts
Sissy's broken necklace made great beads.
