Manny's Big Hits

Even though my child is doing the hitting it still makes me cringe.

I know I have to get used to it because next year he moves up a level where they hit even more.

He's #35.

He sure makes his Dad proud. You can hear Ryan's comments.

And in his defense these were all legal hits.

1st Day

Yesterday, was the first day of school here. Manny is now in the Junior High and starts school an hour earlier. The bus was here at 7:15 to pick him up. School starts at 7:30.

Johnsie had his first day of preschool. We were worried since he is used to staying with me all day and when we lived in MN and went to ECFE (parent and me classes) he never wanted to stay with his teachers when we would separate for the parent time.He did super though. No need for Mom and Dad to worry.

He's a big guy now.

We have been prepping him all summer for this. Explaining that Mommy and Daddy won't stay there with him.

His teacher said he had an awesome, no tears, day, well 3 hrs. His school is only 3 days a week for 3 hrs each day.

Way to go Johnsie!

Johnsie's 4

Lucky for us we celebrated Johnsie's birthday with friends the day before I went into the hospital. I felt bad though because I definitely was not at my best. I probably would have spent hours decorating his cake and not like the quick slap together job.

He wanted a pirate ship cake. I had heard that egg or football shaped pans make great ships but, since I could not find one around I made my own. I bent and folded a 9x13 inch pan until it looked boatish.

I baked one full cake mix (yes, I use box cakes) and then I used a piece of tin foil to section off 2/3rds of the pan and baked about 2/3rds of another mix. After that I used another piece of foil to section off about a 1/3 of the pan and I used what was left of the mix. This way I had 3 layers of cake.

This is what I got after frosting it. I used a snack bag of Nutter Butters for windows and Pringle sticks for railings and ladders. Then I just used skewers and plain old paper for the masts. I wish I wasn't sick and could have spent more time on this. I had visions of grandeur. Oh well, Johnsie loved it.

Manny invited a few friends because he never had a friend birthday party. His birthday was only a few weeks after we moved here and he just didn't really know anyone well yet.

My boys. Ugh they are so cute!

Speaking of Nutter Butters look how my goofy kid bowled the entire time. I was scared he was going to dent the floor.

Nice Check

Playing some games while we are waiting for the games to begin.

Check out this video to see Manny giving a nice check. He received one too but, I was following the puck and just missed him getting checked. The one he gave was much better.

And this is Johnsie being bored at his brothers game.

Fargo Hockey Tourney

N last tournament with his MN/ND team was this past weekend.

We had some time to kill before one of the games so the boys played by the pool. Poor N didn't have time to swim.

D did though and had a blast.

Daddy and D playing a little air hockey. D was in the game room 90% of the time just watching the kids play games. Obviously, he thought that was more fun than watching his brother play.

N is #3.

N got a penalty for roughing. Shame!

N was not happy about me taking this picture. Oh well.

This is D in between one of the games. Wish I would have been doing the same thing.

The team getting their medals. They took 4th place. Go Blades!

Way to go N!

Afterwards, we were able to catch my nephews hockey game. He just happened to have a game in Fargo that day. This is N with my nieces.

D and his cousins.

Hockey '09

This weekend will be the last time N plays with his hockey team. We started him on skates when he was about 3 and he began playing hockey when he was 5. He has played with this team from the beginning.

It is going to be a tough transition for him but, since he is a pretty outgoing guy, I really have no worries. I know the team in NY will welcome him in and he soon will be one of the gang.

Hockey people are a tight crew and we look forward joining the group in NY.

Man Time

N posted this on the basement door last night. He was watching the Vikings/Packers game. What a nerd!
.
And even though I don't really follow football, I guess I should give my home team a shout out and say, "Way To Go Vikings." Gotta love that Farve.

Cast On, Cast Off

This Morning. (bad pic. sorry)

Woot-Woot. N finally got his cast off. Poor guy had one full week of summer vacation in before he broke his arm. You can read about how he broke it here.

This evening

He said his skin is very sensitive and almost hurts when he touches it. And funny, the hairs on his arm grew like crazy. Actually, they really didn't grow any faster than normal, they just weren't exposed to any friction that would pull them out or wear them down.

Brotherly Love

Even though they are 8 years apart, they are still best friends.

It looks like they even wrestle in their sleep!
