Open Ended Art- Fall Colors

This week for open ended art we had to create something using anything that dealt with the fall colors.
D and I chose to color coffee filters.

Check Spelling
Our water bottle was not working, so instead, we used a dropper.

The only problem with that was that D drank more water than he put on the filters.

I really would like to cut leaves out of these but, D will not hear of it. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow he'll agree or maybe not. He is, of course, a Taurus.

Caramel Apples

Am I horrible or what? I have never made homemade caramel apples with the kids. Unless, you count those caramel sheets that you can buy and wrap around the apples. And those, we haven't even done for years. And, we have TWO apple trees.

Anyway, Michelle over at
My 2 Blessings inspired me to make some. She told me she adds cream to hers to help keep the caramel a little softer.

I didn't add any of the ingredients on the package. Just a little cream.

Viola!

Yum

Lip smacking good!

Man Time

N posted this on the basement door last night. He was watching the Vikings/Packers game. What a nerd!
.
And even though I don't really follow football, I guess I should give my home team a shout out and say, "Way To Go Vikings." Gotta love that Farve.

Painting pumpkins

We picked these pumpkins from our garden the other day and decided it was time to paint them.

N being very creative. A black pumpkin?

We called Ryan and got him on Skpe so he could watch the kids paint. Notice him on the computer. Yesterday, we also had our first family supper with him in NY. We plan to do this at least once a week. We just set up the computer on the table and ate supper like we always do. Of course, the kids and I were all crowded on one side of the table so he could see all of us. We had pizza. I wanted us to all be eating the same thing.

We always use acrylic paint for pumpkins. So, D is always stripped down since it is permanent.

A making her masterpiece.

A painted all of these.

Cute girl

N and his creation. He used toothpicks to attach the little pumpkin. He wanted it to look like the big one was eating the little one.

D and his creations. He needed to attach his little black pumpkin like N did. He likes to copy everything his big brother does.

Tot School

Another busy week of Tot School. I would like to start being on some type of schedule with D. Right now we just kind of do whatever, when ever. It seems to me that we could do so much more if we had a schedule. I am not sure where to start though.

Tot School

If you would like to see what other tots have been up to this week visit

This was the first time we broke out Candy Land. This is the same one we got when A was little, probably about 15 years ago. The box has been taped many times but the board and cards are still great.

We purchased this new game called Hiss and D loves it.

D's other favorite game is Hi Ho Cherry-o

Fun with Wikki sticks. N couldn't even resist.

Having fun with our Melissa and Doug pattern bead set. D only spent a few minutes making the patterns on the boards before he switched to making his own. He will usually sort the beads by color on the different dowels.

D loved our new Automoblox. I would always see Krash from 1+1=1 playing with these and since he and D are the same age I went and ordered some. He played with them for at least 45 mins.

Hopscotch Fun.

White Pumpkins

This year we planted pumpkins again and I got this idea from Skip to my Lou. We have a ton of decorations for Halloween but, with trying to sell the house I don't dare put many out. So, I thought these were a small start. D keeps asking to take out some more but, I am just not sure.
I just used a sharpie to make these. My cricut is already packed up but, I may need to unpack it. I have had so many ideas lately. Or at least I have been inspired by so many blog posts and the wanna be crafter in me is screaming to get out and do something.

Library Day

Our local library is so awesome.
Every Thursday and Saturday they have a children's story time.

They have the best children's section with lots of puzzles, Melissa & Doug stuff and a ton of Folkmanis puppets.

D is finding pictures of things that rhyme.

During the story time they always have a craft for the kiddos to do.

Today the kids made a cat for C, notice the tail.

These are 2 of the books we checked out today.
