Recent Thrift Finds

For some reason, this week, I was on a plate kick. Not sure why. I do know I really want simple art on my walls and simple decor around the new house and you can't get more simple than a plate.

My biggest goal is to find a buffet that I can put in our dining room. I am hoping to come upon one at a thrift store or maybe at a garage sale this spring/summer.

I am thinking that during the spring I will do accents of green and then in the summer switch to yellow.

I love the idea of a white kitchen with green accents.

Couldn't pass up this little tea pot. So cute. The bread pan has a Thanksgiving theme. And the little blue vase. Love it.

This will be so cute full of little pumpkins this Halloween.

Ok, so I have no idea what this basket should be used for but, I liked the size of it and it was in such good shape. It is probably 12 inches tall and 4-5 inches wide.

Needed a nanner hanger. I will probably fill the bottom basket with fake green apples. I like keeping all of our fruit in the fridge. Except, of course, nanners.

What We're Reading

Click the button above to see what others are reading!

This was by far my favorite book this week. I love the illustrations and the simple text. One page asks, "What would the sky look like if birds painted with their tails." I hope to do some painting with Johnsie this weekend that resembles this illustration. There were other great art inspirations from this book.

Another Froggy. Johnsie was funny. He covered his eyes when we came to the page showing a needle. Lucky for Froggie, the doctor was just teasing.

Cute book. Johnsie loves books like this where he gets to guess whats
on the next page.

We love Toot and Puddle.

I remember reading this book to Chickie when she was little. Johnsie wasn't all that interested. I like it though.

I WAS NOT allowed to return this book to the library this week. It is definitely one of Johnsie's new favorites.

Last Post on Old Blog

Ok, so, I have wanted to do this forever. All I did was change the name. Everything is the same. This whole blog is copied and pasted into the new blog.

When I first created my blog I didn't know anything and didn't realize I would have to name my blog right away. I am the type of person who writes first and then comes up with a title. Yes, there are 5 of us. And yes, we can be silly. And yes Mom, I still love frogs. But, the name just didn't work for me.

Naming a blog is hard. I really wanted the name to encompass our family life. I came up with a lot of fun names but, not many suited us like, Cultivating Chaos. Love the name, but we aren't very chaotic. We are more of a laid back, easy going family.

So, I came up with Little Did I Know.

Little did I know that my life would be so blessed.

Little did I know that I would be pregnant at 17.

Little did I know that I would graduate high school, have a baby and get married at 18.

Little did I know that even though that all happened Ryan and I would still finish college.

Little did I know that at 23 we would have a 2nd child.

Little did I know that I would be hired for a teaching position after only 1 interview.

Little did I know that 3 years later I would be laid off from that dream job.

Little did I know that after going back to school for elementary ed I would get another job using my first teaching degree.

Little did I know that at 32 Ryan and I would have our 3rd child.

Little did I know that after teaching for another 4 years I would quit my job to be a stay at home mom.

Little did I know that Ryan's job would take us from or home in MN to NY.

Little did I know that after all that, Ryan, would still be my best friend.

Little did I know that we would make it and still be in love.

Little did I know that my life would be so blessed.

I am still working on it so, there will be some changes. I won't post here any more so, make sure to add the new address to your reader/bookmarks/etc.

A Snowman Named "Crate"?

The other day it was so beautiful out here that Johnsie and I decided our yard was in need of a snowman.

We were so busy making him there aren't many in between pictures.

Every snowman needs a nose.

Peek

Every snowman needs a hat too.

Johnsie thought this was pretty funny.

Meet Crate the Snowman. Not sure where the name Crate came from. Not even sure if Johnsie even knows what a crate is. We thought maybe he meant Craig or Kate but, he said nope, Crate. Whatever buddy. It's your snowman.
And a super cute one.

A Trip to School

Johnsie and I go and pick up Manny everyday after school. This is what we see.

Please do not follow my lead and video tape as you drive.
I don't recommend it at all.

How To Build An A

This is such a great book. Carisa over at 1+1+1=1 recommended it. I also can't recommend it enough.

I know Nicole over at Tired, Need Sleep has printable paper templates over at her site. If you would like to check those out.

When you first look at this picture what do you see? I saw a sun, but Johnsie told me, "It's not a sun, you silly. It's a hand." He's right. It is a hand. Complete with thumb.

This was his magnet. I always try to give him some free time with the foam pieces after we work through the book. He loves it. For some reason he had to take the picture wearing his brothers lacrosse helmet.

Hockey, Hockey, Hockey

We Love Hockey!

Ithaca Science Center

I finally figured out how to get the pictures from my video camera onto my computer. Yay for me! We took a trip to Ithaca a few weeks ago and went to the Science Center there. All my boys had a great time.

Manny fell in love with this Corn Snake named Ruby.

Of course, as soon as we left he asked if he could have one. Not so sure, Bud.

Hissing Cockroaches. So pretty. Seriously.

The guy said they make awesome pets and are really clean.

How many Daddys, Mommys and Johnsies are there?

Checking out a Sea Star.

Johnsie would not touch it.

Manny loved it.

Back checking out the mirrors.

This is an earthquake table. You build a structure and see if it can withstand the shaking. Check out the video.

Manny making music.

Checking out the water table.

This is a huge marble run that is 2 stories tall.

Another water table.

Magnets are so cool!
